Pokimane signs a new streaming deal with Twitch

One of the world’s biggest streamers, Imane ‘Pokimane’ Anys, has revealed that she has signed a new deal to remain on Twitch for the foreseeable future.

The Moroccan-Canadian streamer had revealed last week that her existing deal with Twitch had expired, triggering rumours that she may switch to YouTube Gaming to join the platform’s ever-growing lineup of big-name livestreamers, which includes Jack ‘CouRage’ Dunlop, Rachell ‘Valkyrae’ Hofstetter, and Ludwig ‘Ludwig’ Ahgren – all of which joined after establishing themselves on Twitch.

However, the platform’s ninth most-followed streamer is now staying put. This is despite having to deal with plenty of drama over the last few weeks after becoming the victim of a hate raid that was stoked by steamer ‘JiDion’. She has also been vocal in the past about the streamer experience on Twitch, including the platform’s ongoing struggle with DMCA takedowns.

During her stream following the announcement, Pokimane has gone into plenty of detail around why she opted to stick with Twitch. Her many reasons include the sense of community on the platform and the better chat functionality compared to YouTube Gaming.

She also says that she enjoys being a prominent member of the Twitch community and admits she could lose that kind of standing if she were to switch to a platform like YouTube Gaming.

While she confirms she has signed a proper contract with Twitch, she tells her chat she will not be revealing any details about it – which is par for the course when it comes to these kind of deals.

Despite talent such as Ludwig deciding to leave the platform recently, Twitch has managed to secure a few notable streamers to new exclusivity deals in the last few months too. As well as Pokimane, the likes of Jeremy ‘Disguised Toast’ Wang and Nick ‘NICKMERCS’ Kolcheff have committed themselves to the platform.

Last year, Pokimane announced that she was co-founding a talent management and consulting agency called RTS. The venture is also partnered with Sony and also part owns EVO, the fighting game esports competition that Sony acquired in March 2021.
